Subject: Process Change Notification on DMX SERIES crystal

Dear Valued Customer,
 
 This letter is to inform you that KDS is offering here a change specially dedicated for environmental issues. As you are noticed, KDS is actively addressing environmental issues with this kind of activity and following the RoHS directive to work with, so KDS would like you to accept this change.
 

Products Affected:
  KDS All DMX SERIES Crystals (DMX-38 in kHz and MHz Range, DMX-26, and DMX-26S)

Referenced Standard:
  The RoHS directive (DIRECTIVE 2002/95/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 27 January 2003 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronics equipment)

Content of Change:
  Terminal plating to be changed to be lead-free: To follow the directive with the series, KDS has decided to change the plating material on the external four terminals from SnPb over Cu (leaded plating) to Sn over Ni (lead-free plating).

Timing of Change:
  KDS will start to switch over the products in mass-production at the beginning of April and finish it by the end of June.

 

Note: The new products with the lead-free terminals can be available with your current soldering process using leaded solder also, although it is designed to be used with lead-free soldering process having a maximum peak reflow temperature of 260degrees C. If you need related reliability data, please feel free to contact us since it is available at KDS QA Department.
